In August 2022, a new eruption began in Meradalir on the Reykjanes peninsula in South Iceland. It’s right next door to Fagradalsfjall, the volcano that erupted in 2021. It’s possible to visit the eruption site and see the freshly formed lava field, as well as the one from last year.
